Monday, September 14th the Sequim Food Bank hosted local farm Nash’s Organic Produce for its first “Farmers Market at the Food Bank” program. Since fresh fruit and vegetables are both the most important foods we distribute, and the most requested, the Sequim Food Bank is working hard to find a variety of creative ways to make more produce available to our visitors.
Partnering with Nash’s makes particular sense because this farm is a regular donor to the Sequim Food Bank, delivering boxes full of beautiful kale, Swiss chard, leeks and other staples nearly every week. Our hope is that by presenting these same items in a “farmers market” setting, our visitors may be more inclined to try new things and become more familiar with the staple vegetables we provide each week.
This program was made possible by the generosity of a community donor and is further supported by Nash’s – an amazing group of people who always put “community” first.
We will host one more Farmers Market at the Food Bank this year on Monday, October 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Stop by to see what it’s all about!
